Parentals

Mom and Dad came this week! Gee I sure do love them. Dad was in Phoenix looking into some investments of my Grandpa's (someday he might make the family incredibly rich . . . someday), and he decided he would swing by our place on the way home. Never mind that it's six hours out of the way. Mom decided she needed to come too, so she flew out to Phoenix and met him, and together they drove out to spend a couple days with us!

They got here late Thursday night, and after peeking in on sleeping Mac, we chatted until we just couldn't take it any more. The following morning they absolutely doted on Mac. Mom broke out all sorts of little things she just "had" to buy for him--love it!
When he finally drifted off to sleep, Dad pounced on our new t.v. He is an electronic genius. The Geek Squad has nothing on him; he gets Best Buy employees bumbling for comments with his technology know-how. He was slightly shocked that Mark didn't call him before-hand to discuss the best t.v. for us, but he was thrilled to help us get it set to reach its maximum potential. At one point he ran off to the store to get "a couple things", and came back with a new DVD player and several cords to improve the quality of the sound and picture. I'm pretty sure we now have the best t.v. on the planet.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while watching/quoting Pride and Prejudice, eating curry and frozen yogurt, exploring local wealthy neighborhoods, and discussing the details of the lives of our loved ones. We also went to the Swap Meet; they were very interested to see if it lived up to Ceely's years of praise. It was great; we both bought rugs (not my dream rug, but it was cheap and will do for now), Dad got a hat, and they completed Rachel's Christmas present.

It was so nice to have them here. They are just really good people; the kind that make you automatically be better yourself. They seem to have mastered a perfect balance of smothering you with love, and yet giving you space to live your own life. Thanks Mama and Pops, we LOVE you!
